A delegation from the European Parliament will pay an official visit to Nur-Sultan on 25-27 February as part of the Kazakhstan-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee meeting.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of our country in Belgium Aigul Kuspan told about it at the meeting of the European Parliament delegation on relations with Central Asian countries.
The delegation will be headed by Italian MEP Fulvio Martusciello. European parliamentarians will discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest with their counterparts in the Majilis.
"We want to organize a trip to Karaganda, where the MPs will meet with the leadership of Karaganda Region and students of Karaganda State University" Ms. Kuspan said during her speech.
In addition, the European parliamentarians will visit the Museum of memory of victims of political repressions in Dolinka (Karlag) settlement and will exchange opinions with representatives of Assembly of People of Kazakhstan of Karaganda region.
Ms. Kuspan has told about informal Group of friends of Kazakhstan created in the European parliament in October of last year, which already organized conference on a theme of the Kazakhstan model of interconfessional and interreligious consent with participation of archbishop of Catholic church in our country Tomas Bernard Pat.
European deputies, in turn, expect that their visit to our country will contribute to strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and the European Union.
"The trip to Kazakhstan is a very important step for the new European Parliament. We call Kazakhstan one of the motors of development for the entire region," said Latvian MP Andris Ameriks.
"Our visit will take place 10 days after President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Brussels, which is expected in mid-February. Today President Tokayev is actively engaged in reforming and implementing his election promises," he said.
